Music & Performing Arts

Inspiring creativity within our pupils

With a dedicated team of teachers and staff, the school places great emphasis on nurturing students' artistic expression and passion for the arts. The well-equipped music room echoes with the sounds of various instruments, where students eagerly learn to play and compose music.

Through a rich and diverse curriculum, Long Cross Primary School continues to inspire young minds to embrace the magic of music and the performing arts, fostering a lifelong love for creativity and self-expression.

Workshops


Recent trips have included ‘Westminster Abbey and Wicked’ in the West End for KS4 pupils and Young Voices at the O2. We host regular music workshops, recent ones including African Drumming, Stomp and drama improvisation.

Extra Curricular Clubs


We have dance and drama extra curricular clubs run weekly by external specialist staff, and these have termly showcases to which parents are invited. The ballet students also work towards exams following the Cecchetti syllabus.

The School Choir


The School Choir is our most popular club and runs after school weekly and leads our whole school Carol Service and Speech Day events at St Mary’s Church in Slough. We also take part in the ‘Young Voices’ Event at the O2, and attend ‘Wellington College Prep Choral Day’ annually.

Peripatetic


We have a dedicated team of peripatetic staff who support the musical development of our pupils. Pupils showcase their performance skills in lessons, assemblies and concerts throughout the year, and each term children are entered for ABRSM Music exams very successfully.

GCSE Option

Music is an integral part of our well-rounded education

At Long Cross School, the music program offers an exciting GCSE option for students passionate about sound and rhythm. Led by skilled educators, the course covers music theory, history, and performance. Students explore instruments in a well-equipped studio, compose their own pieces, and analyse famous works.

Regular performances build confidence and showcase talents. Music at Long Cross School fosters creativity, self-expression, discipline, teamwork, and dedication, preparing students for a lifelong musical journey.
